It happens to all of us from time to time, we
make mistakes.........
One of the most frequent recoverable errors is
the coding of blister packs.
For small quantities, these are either destroyed
or the product recovered and re-packaged.
When the volumes are larger, or for H&S/GMP
reasons the tablets or capsules cannot be
recovered it is necessary to securely remove the
embossed or printed code/date.
One solution, is the cropping of the blister,
allowing for the offending text to be removed
and the packs ink-jet coded with the correct
information, prior to being released to market.
There are three hurdles to overcome:
- Volume, the process needs to be quick
enough to justify the time spent recovering
the product.
- Accuracy, all blisters must look
identical, blister packs are rarely flat,
and this causes mechanical handling issues.
- Finally, the blister must appear as good
as the first, therefore the radius must
blend perfectly so as to not leave any sharp
edges or "tell-tale" marks.
Over the last 18 months Toolrite has prepared
3 such units, recovering as many as 8 blister
packs per cycle. Two were designed for removing
the incorrect code, one on one edge, the other
on both edges. The third was modified to
re-introduce a "full-cross" perforation to a
blister which had been omitted in production.
The basic design principle allows for future
modification of specific components, and to
allow for a series of change parts to be
assembled if needed.
Toolrite's design and manufacturing process
bring effective initiatives quickly to our
clients.
